# Steery

> Your agents' conversations on your phone, and a signed answer when a Steery-started agent asks you. Steer the conversations Steery starts from your phone.

Steery keeps a record of every agent conversation — its title, workstream, chapters and lines — through six MCP tools. Conversations Steery starts are also steered, and use the `steery` command to carry a request from the agent to a person and a signed response back. Steery does not create agents on its own or decide anything itself. Every response is signed on the person's phone and verified locally before an agent acts on it.

- [Shell installer](https://steery.dev/install.sh): `curl -fsSL steery.dev/install.sh | sh` installs `steery`, then adds its drivers and adapters from their own sources ([steery-dev/drivers](https://github.com/steery-dev/drivers), [steery-dev/adapters](https://github.com/steery-dev/adapters)) with `steery programs add`, then runs `steery setup`, which asks what runs the work here (this computer, or an adapter's hosts) and which harnesses to set up, and sets this machine up. `--harness <ids>`, `--install`, `--program <source>`, `--install-only`, `--adapter <id>`, `--setting NAME[=VALUE]` and `--source image:<ref>|snapshot:<name>` make the choices up front. Any harness is connected by a driver anyone writes against [steery-dev/sdk](https://github.com/steery-dev/sdk).
- Cloud machines (Daytona, OpenSandbox) are added on the web dashboard's Machines page (Add machine) and run on Steery's server, which keeps their settings sealed; nothing is installed for them. Every machine is personal or shared with a workspace, switched on that page.
