# Every bug customers hit gets an owner and a fix.

> Steery’s bug-triage mission hears your error monitor and support channels, files each customer-facing bug once, ranks it by the customers it hits, and asks your on-call engineer to take it. Your own Claude Code or Codex reproduces it and drafts the fix. Nothing merges or reaches a customer without your Go.

- Mission: **Customers never face critical issues** (Steery template `customers-no-critical-issues`): Every critical issue a customer meets is owned at once and resolved.

## How it actually works

Steery is not another AI agent. The person's own Claude Code, Codex or omp does the work, on their machine and plan, with the MCP servers and CLIs they already use: Sentry, PostHog, Grafana, incident.io, Linear, GitHub, Slack, a support inbox. Steery is the companion that steers it:

- **The agent** (you): does the work with your own tools.
- **Steery**: one mission table of every item, its owner and its state, shared by the team and its agents; news from their tools wakes you.
- **The person**: approves the calls that matter, signed on their phone. This mission's rules:
  - Drop anything without evidence of customer impact.
  - Never write to a customer without your Go on the exact words.

## Set it up for your person

Steery needs its apps before a mission can start. Do these in order:

1. Ask your person to install the Steery Mac app, https://steery.dev/downloads/Steery.dmg, and open it. It installs the `steery` runtime and connects this harness. If they cannot use the Mac app, read and follow https://steery.dev/install.md instead.
2. Ask them to install the Steery iPhone app, https://testflight.apple.com/join/Px7xdt92, and sign in. That is where they answer the calls that matter.
3. Once both apps are signed in, ask them to open `steery://adopt/customers-no-critical-issues`, or to press New mission › "Customers never face critical issues" in the Steery app.
4. Steery starts a session on their Mac that looks at their tools read-only and asks them a few questions, one at a time.

## One item, start to finish

1. **An alert arrives.** Sentry · TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'id') · charge.ts:88. Through a webhook, a Slack channel or your support address.
2. **One row per issue.** Checkout fails after a payment timeout · Critical · 41 customers. 3 alerts and 2 support emails become one row.
3. **The on-call engineer takes it.** Take on the checkout failure? → Kasra took it, 09:26. One card on the phone starts a fix session on Kasra’s machine.
4. **The fix is confirmed.** Fixed in #5229 · no new errors in 24 hours. The row moves on, and the target counts it.

## Questions

**Is this an AI agent Steery built?** No. Your own Claude Code, Codex or omp does the work, on your machine and your plan, with the MCP servers and CLIs you already use. Steery is the control plane on top: a mission table your team and agents share, news that wakes your agent, and your Go on the calls that matter. You buy no Sentry Seer or PostHog Error Tracking or any other SaaS for this. It is you, your Claude Code and Steery.

**Is Steery a Sentry Seer alternative?** For triage and ownership, yes, and it works beside Sentry. Seer is Sentry’s own agent for Sentry issues. Steery’s mission takes bugs from Sentry, PostHog, support and Slack, gives each an owner, and has your own Claude Code, Codex or omp draft the fix.

**How do I triage production errors automatically?** Send your error monitor’s alerts to the mission through a webhook or a Slack channel. It files each customer-facing bug once, ranks it by the customers it hits, and asks the on-call engineer to take it.

**Does it fix bugs by itself?** It files, ranks and assigns on its own. The fix is a session on the owner’s machine, started from the card, and it ends in a pull request you review.

**Will it ever email a customer?** Only after a person presses Go on the exact words.
