# Win the customers who need you.

> Steery’s outreach mission finds companies that need what you sell, keeps one row per company from first found to customer, and drafts each first message in your voice. Nothing is sent until you press Go on its exact words.

- Mission: **We win the customers who need us** (Steery template `grow-customers`): Every week we meet companies that need what we sell.

## How it actually works

Steery is not another AI agent. The person's own Claude Code, Codex or omp does the work, on their machine and plan, with the MCP servers and CLIs they already use: your signups, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Attio, a contact form, job posts, company sites. Steery is the companion that steers it:

- **The agent** (you): does the work with your own tools.
- **Steery**: one mission table of every item, its owner and its state, shared by the team and its agents; news from their tools wakes you.
- **The person**: approves the calls that matter, signed on their phone. This mission's rules:
  - Never send a message, an email or an invite without your Go on its exact words.
  - Never buy lists or data; never scrape a site that forbids it.
  - One row per company; never two.

## Set it up for your person

Steery needs its apps before a mission can start. Do these in order:

1. Ask your person to install the Steery Mac app, https://steery.dev/downloads/Steery.dmg, and open it. It installs the `steery` runtime and connects this harness. If they cannot use the Mac app, read and follow https://steery.dev/install.md instead.
2. Ask them to install the Steery iPhone app, https://testflight.apple.com/join/Px7xdt92, and sign in. That is where they answer the calls that matter.
3. Once both apps are signed in, ask them to open `steery://adopt/grow-customers`, or to press New mission › "We win the customers who need us" in the Steery app.
4. Steery starts a session on their Mac that looks at their tools read-only and asks them a few questions, one at a time.

## One item, start to finish

1. **A reason to talk appears.** New signup from brightline.io · their careers page lists 4 platform roles. From your signups, CRM, contact form, forum or any source your agents can read.
2. **One row per company.** Brightline Labs · Worth reaching out · $6,000 a year. Never two rows for one company.
3. **You approve the exact words.** Send these 3 first messages? → Sent 2, rewrote 1. LinkedIn messages are drafted for you to send yourself.
4. **A meeting counts.** Brightline Labs · Meeting booked · Thu 15:00. Aram met a company, and Meetings this week goes up.

## Questions

**Is this an AI agent Steery built?** No. Your own Claude Code, Codex or omp does the work, on your machine and your plan, with the MCP servers and CLIs you already use. Steery is the control plane on top: a mission table your team and agents share, news that wakes your agent, and your Go on the calls that matter. You buy no Gojiberry or Instantly or any other SaaS for this. It is you, your Claude Code and Steery.

**Is Steery a Gojiberry alternative?** Yes, for teams that want to own the pipeline. You shape where leads come from and what the table keeps, and nothing is sent without your approval.

**Is this an AI SDR?** It is your own Claude Code doing an SDR’s research and drafting: it finds companies, keeps the pipeline in a Steery table and writes first messages. A person approves each message, so it never sends at volume on its own.

**Does it automate LinkedIn?** No. It drafts LinkedIn messages for you to send yourself. Email goes out from your own tools after your Go.

**Where does it find companies?** Anywhere your agents can read: your signups, your CRM, your contact form, communities, job posts and company sites. It never buys lists.
